- The Sads are an LA based musical project fronted by Aaron Rose (ANP Quarterly, Beautiful Losers) accompanied by David Scott Stone (Melvins, Unwound) on modular synth, music/fashion photographer Dan Monick on drums, and Aska Matsumiya (Moonrats) on keys and accordion. Their debut album, Rough Stabs is released through LA's 'Teardrops', a lavish vinyl package featuring cover art by artist Matt Leines. The band spans genres, making each their own, from jaunty jazz numbers with keyboard horn sections, to sombre folk numbers, to child-like, Satie-esque, piano-based compositions.
- Live, they have been accompanied by performance artist/filmmaker Miranda July on typewriter. Cali Dewitt of Teardrops records describes the band as, 'the audio equivalent of a failing relationship in a Godard movie.'
