PM Tenore RVCA x Cinelli

Our friends over at RVCA sent over PM Tenore’s RVCAxCinelli collaboration to our Costa Mesa store. Decked out with Campagnolo Record, Cinelli Priest bars, and wooden tubular wheelset…. this build is absolutely amazing! They also dropped off some of the limited edition RVCAxCinelli shirts that are retailing for $20.

Come check out the bike in person at our Costa Mesa location.

Short Doc

So about 2 Years ago Marsea from New Image art told me a guy named Gavin wanted to shoot a short documentary about my art and the preparation effort for my first solo show at New Image. Gavin and I hung out, went to the zoo, surfed, partied, ate and worked together for a few months before the show. I hadn’t heard anything from Gavin since then and had not actually watched the little documentary until just now. I guess I felt a but weird watching it for some reason…I dont know….is that wierd? Anyway its great and Im super happy for Gavin and his brand new website“The Creative Lives”. He will be posting more short docs too; Barry McGee, Megan Whitmarsh, Porus Walker, Mark Dean Veca and New Image Art!

Not Epic Photos, But Epic People

Josh and Jenna Harmony, one of the sweetest couples you can ever meet.

Here’s a photo of Kevin Barnett with his lovely mother, you might know Kevin from the Toy Machine website

And the most epic person, (who I forgot to mention is having ANOTHER show, this time in New York at the end of May at the ICP) my husband Ed, and fellow photographer Larry Clark.

So now I’m in Ghent!

So again it’s been a long long time since I’ve last posted. It’s been a crazy month trying to get ready for our month and half long trip to Europe for Eds art domination! I’m serious, he has a solo show up in Culver City at Roberts and Tilton and now we are going to be setting up his solo museum show in Ghent at the SMAK and then after that we travel to London for another solo gallery show of his. I’m exhausted just writing this down! But this time I’m on top of my stuff, I brought my lo-res archive (I don’t shoot digital so there will be no actual photos from this trip) with me so I can post if the time permits and today the time permits. So lets start with some randomness! Oh yeah, if you want to see what we are up to check out Ed’s Blog.

Megawords at Printed Matter, NYC

posterbiglores1-e1266905374942
Printed Matter is pleased to present an exhibition of work by Megawords, a Philadelphia-based publishing collective. Please join us and the artists for an opening reception on Friday, March 5, from 5-7PM. Printed Matter is located in New York City at 195 Tenth Avenue (between 21st and 22nd Street).

Taking its primary appearance as a magazine, Megawords has also expanded beyond the page to include a weekly internet radio show, events and performances, and a temporary storefront project space. This exhibition will offer an introduction to the entire Megawords project, including displays of all past issues, photos and work by Megawords and Megawords contributors, and other Megawords-related ephemera and inspiration. Megawords started showing up in the mail here at Printed Matter in 2005 and our staff was simultaneously intrigued and mystified. Here was a thoughtfully produced and visually engaging artists’ publication that we would have been happy to add to inventory, but we discovered it was not for sale. We started looking forward to Megawords’ sporadic appearance—both for ourselves and for our storefront’s free cart.

Started by Dan Murphy and Anthony Smyrski, Megawords has published twelve issues that have taken on varying formats from saturated color newsprint to stapled black-and-white pages to perfect bound offset printing: all given away for free. Representing the diverse interests of its many contributors, the pages of Megawords have contained subject matter ranging from images of urban landscapes and photograph’s of Hurricane Katrina’s aftermath to artist interviews and a facsimile vintage Stone Roses fanzine. Megawords’ publishing projects an impressive generosity both in its distribution as well as its advertising-free and straight-forward editorial appearance.

Ed Templeton: The Seconds Pass Video

With few exceptions, the life of a professional skateboarder, especially one as legendary and long-standing as Ed Templeton, mandates hours and hours—probably years of his life—in a car. Living behind the Orange curtain in Huntington Beach and spending years on tour with Toy Machine can only compound the time in the whip.

So, the head of the Transistor Sect used photos shot from a car as the theme of his latest art show, The Seconds Pass. Hear him explain how he got the name for the show from Mike Vallely, the story behind some of the pieces and more, just before the opening night. The exhibit runs until April 3rd at the Roberts & Tilton Gallery.

Video filmed and edited by Chris Thiessen.
