- Marsea Goldberg is the director and founder of New Image Art Gallery in Los Angeles, since starting the gallery in 1994 she has been famed for her discriminating eye and solid curatorial skills which have distinguished the finest of both eminent and emergent talents coming out of the street, skate and surf scenes.
- What began as a decision to turn her then 10x10 design studio into a show space for friends which she predicted wouldn’t last much more than five months has since acquired a fanfare likened to that of a global cult following and has attained the interest of art lovers and collectors worldwide. She can lay claim to either breaking or propelling the careers of such “art stars” as Ed Templeton, Jo Jackson, Chris Johanson, the late Rebecca Westcott, Neckface, Ashley Macomber, Tauba Auerbach, the Date Farmers, and Bast just to name a few.
- Goldberg co-curated the Skate Culture exhibition with Rich Jacobs at the Contemporary Art Center of Virginia in 2003 and in May of 2007 she curated the GuestRoom at the Museum Het Domein in the Netherlands exhibiting the collaborative works of Faile, Swoon and David Ellis. New Image Art Gallery has been collaborating with RVCA’s Artist Network Program for the past 6 years helping to further the careers of young artists, in 2005 she curated the New Image Art / RVCA exhibition in conjunction with the Orange County Museum of Contemporary Art’s opening of the Beautiful Loser’s show.
- The Artist’s Network Program and New Image Art continue to promote young artists through various projects, show sponsorship, design commissions, and printed matter. When she’s looking at or making art Marsea can usually be found surfing.
